delaval_1mbSuzanne de Laval is an architect and PhD. She acts as senior adviser and is internationally engaged in the field of children and architecture. She has experience as practising architect at Wikforss Architect’s Office in Uppsala, as a municipality planner at the City Planning Office in Uppsala, as a researcher at Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, in Stockholm and as educational manager at FFNS Architects and Sweco (publ.).

Suzanne de Laval has developed methods for evaluation of the built environment and she has executed several evaluations of housing projects and road design projects. She has also participated in dialogue projects as dialogue facilitator or as researcher documenting and evaluating. She has developed methods for Swedish Road Administration’s design methodology.

Suzanne de Laval has participated in a number of planning processes as an expert in citizen participation and dialogue. Among others in Hjorthagen, Akalla, Husby, Tensta, Rinkeby, Hjulsta, Bergshamra, Järfälla, Norrtälje and Uppsala.

Suzanne de Laval has conducted several evaluations of schools from a user perspective with the walk-through method and with the participation of school children, teachers, school administrators, architects, planners and facility manager.

Suzanne de Laval was active in the Swedish Association of Architects 1999 – 2019 as chairman of a working group for Built Environment Education in school, ARKiS, and she was 2008-2010 member of the board of Arkitekturmuseet. Today she is co-Director for UIA Architecture & Children since 2017 och member of the board and secretary in Skolhusgruppen, The Swedish Schoolbuilding Society.

Suzanne de Laval combines the commitment for children and architecture in the projects with public participation and dialogue.
